Mansion Sports – Manchester City is reportedly preparing an upgraded contract proposal for midfield linchpin Rodri, which would make him the second-highest-paid player at the club, behind only Erling Haaland. 

This strategic move is aimed at deterring Real Madrid’s long-standing interest in acquiring the Spanish international, who has become indispensable under Pep Guardiola.

Real Madrid is currently in the market for a new midfield orchestrator following the official departures of club legends Toni Kroos and Luka Modrić. 

Although names like Enzo Fernández of Chelsea and Liverpool's Alexis Mac Allister have been considered, it is believed that Rodri remains the club's primary long-term target.
