Mansion Sports - Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to part ways with Federico Chiesa unless they first secure the signing of Alexander Isak from Newcastle United, a situation that has forced Inter Milan and Napoli to remain patient in their pursuit of the Italian forward.

The Italy international appeared to be on the verge of leaving Anfield just a year after joining from Juventus, having departed the Serie A club with only a short period left on his contract.

During his debut season with Liverpool, Chiesa struggled to secure regular playing time due to both injuries and inconsistent performances. 

Despite these setbacks, he still managed to register two goals and two assists across 14 competitive appearances.

Transfer Speculation Put on Hold

When Chiesa was left out of Liverpool’s travelling squad for pre-season fixtures, speculation mounted that he could be loaned out or sold before the new campaign. 

However, according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport, manager Arne Slot has opted to keep Chiesa at least until Liverpool bring in a new attacking option.

The club’s primary target is Newcastle United’s star striker, Alexander Isak, whose arrival would determine whether Chiesa’s departure could proceed.

Interest from Serie A Clubs

Inter Milan and Napoli have both maintained their interest in signing Chiesa, while Atalanta have also been linked with a potential move for the player. 

Nevertheless, any formal negotiations are currently on hold as Liverpool focus on resolving the Isak pursuit.

With the transfer window still open, Chiesa’s future remains uncertain. Should Liverpool fail to land Isak or another forward on their shortlist, the likelihood is that Chiesa will remain at Anfield for the coming season, aiming to prove his worth under the guidance of Arne Slot.
