Fabregas Shuts the Door on Potential Nico Paz Transfer

Mansion SportsSerie A club Como have confirmed that their key midfielder, Nico Paz, will not be leaving before the close of the summer transfer window. This firm stance effectively silences speculation surrounding the future of the highly talented young player.

Failed Return to Real Madrid

Nico Paz had been strongly linked with a possible return to Real Madrid, where he was rumored to be part of Xabi Alonso’s long-term squad project.

However, the move never materialized. The Spanish giants, then managed by Carlo Ancelotti, sold Paz to Como last summer for a fee of around €6 million.

Transfer Agreement with Buy-Back Option

As part of the deal, Real Madrid included a buy-back clause structured in three phases—set for 2025, 2026, and 2027.

The first clause, valued at €8 million and valid during the start of this summer’s window, was not activated before the deadline. As a result, Como remain the full owners of Paz for the time being.

Tottenham’s Interest and the Transfer Market Situation

Speculation grew further after reports suggested that Tottenham Hotspur were preparing a substantial €45 million bid for Paz, following their failure to secure Eberechi Eze, who instead joined Arsenal.

Should such a deal go through, Real Madrid would still stand to benefit, as the original transfer agreement includes a 50% resale clause.

Despite this, Como manager Cesc Fàbregas has firmly dismissed any possibility of the transfer happening this summer.

Cesc Fàbregas’ Firm Statement

Fabregas was unequivocal when asked about the midfielder’s future, assuring fans that Paz would remain at Como.

“I am very calm and relaxed. Nico is extremely happy here at Como. He is an extraordinary player,” said the former Spanish international.

Outstanding Performances in Serie A

The club’s decision comes on the back of Paz’s excellent display in Como’s Serie A comeback match, where they secured a 2-0 victory over Lazio.

In that game, Paz played a decisive role by scoring one goal and providing an assist, earning him the Man of the Match award.
